For up to 5 bonus points, write a 1 page research paper on one of the topics below:

Option 1:  The setting of “Thank You, M’am” is Harlem, New York City.  Type a one page research paper explaining how and when Harlem was established as an African-American community.   Discuss the social and economic transformation of Harlem over the years.  How is the setting different today than it was in "Thank You M'am?"

Option 2:  Langston Hughes, the author of "Thank You M'am," is a significant person in history.  Type a one page research paper describing his contributions to society.  Also, describe the Harlem Renaissance and the types of art forms popular during this period.  Explain how Langston Hughes' works fit into this historical setting.

Language Arts:  Finish your Walk Two Moons performance task outline if you did not finish it in class today.  On Wednesday, you will have a test on Chapters 25-44 of Walk Two Moons.

Advanced Language Arts:  Make any final revisions to your Tangerine performance task using Google Drive.  Then, join my class on Edmodo amd link your Edmodo backpack to your Google Drive.  Finally, turn in the assignment from your backpack using the assignment link in Edmodo.

Language Arts:  Finish the Walk Two Moons performance task prewrite if you did not finish it in class.  Also, don't forget you must read the rest of Walk Two Moons (Chapters 35-44) for Monday and complete the Chapters 35-44 worksheet.  You will have a test on Chapters 25-44 of Walk Two Moons on Wednesday, October 9th 2013.

Advanced Language Arts:  Finish revising and editing your Tangerine performance task on Google Drive.  Also, List 6 context sentences are due Monday.  Use the resources below to study for Friday's quiz on List 6.

Language Arts:  Finish your poetry connections handout that is based on the short story "Thank You M'am."  Also, Chapters 35-44 of Walk Two Moons  must be read by Monday, October 7th and the worksheet for those chapters must be complete.

Advanced Language Arts:  Use the feedback from the peer revision session to revise and edit your rough draft.  Be sure to actually make changes and improve your paper!  Through Google, I am able to track every change you made, including when you made it, so you are accountable for improving your paper!  Also, study for your vocabulary quiz.

Language Arts: Don't forget to study for tomorrow's test on the short story "Thank You M'am." The test will assess your comprehension of the story, as well as the vocabulary that goes along with it. To study, you can reference your book, the two handouts with questions we reviewed in class, the graphic organizer, and the context sentences.  You can also study using the vocabulary resources posted on the blog on September 25th 2013.  Be sure to study the words for the Language Arts class, not Advanced Language Arts.
